Hopewell Bay is home to a mix of, uh-oh, intriguing characters. This time, we’re introducing the Wu family—part of the Boulton dynasty, yes, but a powerhouse in their own right!

From the glamorous events planner to the mysterious – some would say, even shady – government worker, and the mischievous minor who's always up to something, the Wu family has already started making waves—but are they on the verge of causing full-blown havoc? Mason has already caused a scene with cans and capybaras, and his mothers aren’t ones to be left out of the spotlight, either…

Mason Wu

Mason Wu is Deb Boulton’s grandson and Maddie’s second cousin. He moved to Hopewell Bay with his moms, Pearl and Charlotte, from the big city. However, instead of a proper introduction to the family, Maddie and Grandma Ursula first ran into Mason when he was snooping around the Mansion during the Egg Hunt—yes, he’s that kid! While his too-old-for-his-age personality, up-to-no-good ways, and tenacious curiosity drive some folks, like Grandma Ursula, up the wall, others, like Maddie, find him rather amusing. Take, for instance, his obsession with 80’s gadgets: “No, that’s not a word piano, Mason! That’s a typewriter!”. This kid, I tell you—what’s he up to next? No one, not even Mason, knows.

Pearl Wu

Fashionista and glam events planner Pearl Wu was living it up in the big city with son, Mason and wife, Charlotte, until the glitzy but always-on-the-go lifestyle became a bit too much. So, after taking a good, hard look at what’s really important to her—family and friends—Pearl moved the family to Hopewell Bay, the charming and slow-paced town which also happens to be her mother-in-law Deb Boulton’s home turf. After organizing a couple of events as a favor to Deb, townfolk like Mayor Bruno have already caught wind of Pearl’s knack for throwing quite the party. Now, they are counting on Pearl to make Hopewell Bay the premier event hub in the tri-state area. Meanwhile, all she wants is to spend quality time with her family, make real friends, and go to brunch. Good luck Pearl!

Charlotte Wu

Pearl's wife—whose name we have yet to learn—arrived in Hopewell Bay with her wife, Pearl, and their son, Mason. Although she has family ties in Hopewell Bay—her mother being Deb Boulton—it was believed that Pearl was the one who advocated for the move. However, it turns out that her wife was the one who orchestrated their relocation to be closer to her so-called “family,” whose actual connections are unraveling as we speak (but that’s a story for another time). What we can say is that there’s a reason why Pearl's wife—and Mason—bear the surname Wu rather than Boulton. No one really knows what she does for a living, except that she keeps a low profile, works odd hours, and travels to the most conspicuous locations after receiving calls on her “very private work phone.” If questioned outright, she’d say, “Oh, I’m just a humble government worker, nothing fancy at all,” but we can’t shake the feeling that she’s watching our every move. All part of a big plan that’ll totally unhinge the Hopewell Bay community as we know it. It’s just a feeling, though. Umm… nice to have you back in town, sweetheart.
